Ordered these sexy beasts just now. With my luck it'll be 60 degrees by the time they arrive.

Good choice, Nokian makes great winter tires.
I also ordered a set of Bridgestone LM32s today. I was in quite a dilemma, as Firestone Winterhawk 3s were available for about the same amount of money, and the Winterhawk ranked very high at this year's ADAC tests (in the same category with the Michelin Alpin A5). However, I heard opinions that their performance is so good only when they're new, and starts to turn (much) worse with wear. So I chose the Bridgestones.

still a good choice. Was waiting for Discount Tire to get restocked with Nokian, finally gave up and ordered from a vendor on eBay. Watch me get a used set of General tires delivered now.

Nice, what size, and how much? I have heard they are kind of the best.

Ahh, the one thing I like about the deep south is that we wouldn't be able to buy winter tires even if we wanted to. Hell, I saw a plastic sled at Wal-Mart one time and it was a big deal.

I could have gotten them cheaper if I got some steel 16 inch wheels but got 225/40s to put on my stock 18 inch wheels. Plan on making this my winter setup and get some new wheels when spring/summer comes around. Paid $894 after shipping. I've never had Nokian tires before but after everything I've heard I'm pretty stoked.

I put on General Altimax Artics or whatever they're called about 6 weeks ago. Paid $210 for 5 new tires - can't say no. They've been troopers, pulling my Corolla through 2.5 foot drifts (thanks plow guy, like I didn't have to get to work).
It's -12° here, about the same all week. Really. Freaking. Cold.

man, I hate you. I just arrived back to Nebraska yesterday after spending 2 weeks down in Houston. It's depressing to watch the thermometer in my car rapidly drop the farther north I got.

sheesh where are you? I would have been fine getting super cheap winter tires but the urge to try these things overtook me.

On the plus side, you get all the fun that comes with snow. Here, schools are closed for half an inch, even if there's none on the roads. It's not for safety, but literally just because the kids might not see snow again for three or four years.
And when it DOES get on the roads, well... I think Atlanta has a total of two snowplows (seriously) and none of the surrounding suburbs have any. So it's pretty intense, especially considering that all the bro trucks think they can handle it and I'll spend hours at a time watching them slide down hills.

South Dakota. We are used to the cold (the locals are, I'm still fairly new) but this came quick. We literally went from 60s to -20s in a day and a half.

Yeah, I have heard they are basically just the best around. Let me know how well they work!

When I was living in Houston last winter, which was harsh for Houston's standards, people up here were having a good laugh about the city shutting down because of the icy roads. I just wanted to say "you live in a town of 5,000 and don't know what traffic is, go fuck yourself".

will do. Don't take advantage of oppo enough. I'll try and write a review at some point.

I was in the south during the weather change, but my buddy said it went from being 60 on Sunday morning to 30 around noon. I've lived in Nebraska a majority of my life but can never get used to the cold.
